In the world of art and design, collaborations often bring forth unique and inspiring creations that merge the talents of different artists. One such collaboration that has captivated the hearts of many is the partnership between Stephanie Grace Ceramics and SHAY.

In this blog, we chatted with Stephanie about synergy, our shared values, and the stunning custom made jewelry dish that has become a complimentary addition to every SHAY order for a limited time.

Who is Stephanie Grace Ceramics?

I am a sun-worshipping, nature-loving creative from Vermont. With a background in contemporary art dealing, I stumbled upon ceramics by accident and fell in love with the craft. I'm inspired by nature, showcasing patterns and repetitions found in the world around us and my passion for experimentation and pushing the limits of materials has led to the creation of unique and captivating ceramic pieces.

There’s a beautiful synergy between clay & jewelry design. Can you explain this?

Clay and jewelry design share a deep connection rooted in their common origins. Both disciplines involve minerals sourced from the earth, which are transformed through heat and craftsmanship. Moreover, both ceramics and jewelry are forms of adornment, offering a way for individuals to express their personal style and elevate their everyday experiences. I think it’s just instinctual in our need to explore those eternal questions:  Who are we, where did we come from & why are we here?

What are your favorite SHAY pieces?

Although I'm unable to wear rings due to my craft, I'm drawn to the Pave Essential Link Ring in Gold, with its intricate detailing and timeless elegance. Additionally, the Diamond Heart Tennis Necklace captures my imagination, as it seamlessly blends casual style with exquisite diamond craftsmanship.

What is your everyday jewelry?

My everyday jewelry centers around a sentimental piece—an unassuming yet radiant diamond solitaire necklace in a gold prong setting. This necklace, gifted to me by her mother-in-law, has become a cherished symbol of my craft and personal journey.

How do you come up with the designs for your pottery? Do you have a particular style or aesthetic that you like to incorporate into your work?

My work is very much inspired by the wonders of nature. I have a deep fascination with patterns and repetitions, which are prevalent throughout the natural world. Furthermore, I constantly seek to challenge the boundaries of my materials, experimenting and finding inspiration in both success and failure. My pieces reflect an organic and contemporary aesthetic, embodying the harmony between natural forms and innovative design.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career as a ceramicist?

Although my career as a ceramicist spans just two years, the fact that I have a thriving career in this field is a remarkable and memorable achievement. Having previously worked as an art dealer, I always admired makers and never thought I could create something myself. It was enrolling in a ceramics class that led me to discover my true calling. Today, my pieces are featured in retail shops across the country. It's dreamier than I could have ever imagined.

What does 2023 have in store for you?

2023 promises a period of growth and new opportunities. Alongside my retail shop, I have developed my website, allowing customers to purchase directly from me. The inclusion of a customized wedding registry has had a tremendous response. I’ve been insanely lucky to have so many shops support me but I love working with people directly too, so it’s exciting to be able to have both!
